Technician to coach table tennis at international level

Technician Peter Thompson has been appointed to coach the England Deaf Table Tennis Men's team. Peter will be preparing the squad of four men before travelling to compete at the World Deaf Games in Copenhagen in July. The preparation involves Peter having to learn sign language. The games last for fourteen days and the team will be hoping to improve on their 10th place achieved in Bulgaria in 1993.

Peter Thompson from the Department of Fuel and Energy is an England Table Tennis Association qualified senior level coach and has been involved in coaching and organising table tennis in Leeds for fifeteen years. He has coached the highly successful Yorkshire Juniors to three consecutive premier championship wins, in addition, he coachs Leeds League Juniors and is personal coach to many of Leeds top young players.
