Security campaign

West Yorkshire Police have established a permanent presence on campus in support of the University's campaign to cut crime.

PC Glen Brady has been assigned to patrol the University campus and the city's two hospitals. He can be approached by any member of staff or student who wishes to report an incident or seek advice. He can be found on Mondays between 12-2pm in room G19 in the Houldsworth School of Engineering off Clarendon Road and can be contacted via the security office.

The University's Security Service has produced a Campus Watch booklet which has been distributed to departments throughout the University.

Over 140 people on the campus have been designated as Security Liaison Persons and are responsible for disseminating information and advice about security matters to their colleagues and liaising with Security.

The booklet gives advice on ways to reduce opportunities for crime, and what to do in the event of an incident. It also includes details on a new system to be adopted by the University which will assist in the rapid communication of information on security matters between departments.

Contact Security's Peter Vincent on ext 5661 for further information and the name of your security liaison person.
