The first UK conference dedicated to the academic study of the Britpop phenomenon is to be held at Leeds. A one-day symposium Britpop : Towards a Musicological Perspective is being held on Wednesday April 9 in the Clothworkers' Centenary Hall.
The conference will put forward arguments both for and against Britpop in an attempt to assess its past, present, and potential future within the fields of British culture and the contemporary music scene in general. An open forum session will be followed by dinner and an excursion into Leeds' clubland. Details from Dr Steve Sweeney-Turner, ext 2582 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
