A record number of applications to Leeds for Autumn 1997 have been made through UCAS. A total of 41,362 potential students - 2.02 per cent of the national figure - had appliedto come to Leeds by mid February. Leeds is once again one of Britain's most popular universities, lying second in the number of applications. The figure is some 3,500 up on last year's total of 37,859, which represented the same market share as in 1996.
