The Department of Textile Industries has recently secured funding for new spinning machinery with a value of over £750,000. Funded by a joint research equipment initiative between the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the Office of Science and Technology and Rieter of Switzerland, the new machinery will complement the department's pilot processing facilities which cover a range of processes from spinning to dyeing. The joint research initiative itself will provide over £350,000 for equipment to model and simulate the fibre to yarn production process for predicting yarn properties.
