Wheezing linked to pollution

Children in years four and five at two schools in Hunslet have helped researchers from the Nuffield Institute for Health confirm a link between air pollution and breathing difficulties.

Analysis of the results shows that both wheezing and difficulty in breathing at night were more common on days of high pollution. Wheezing was 2.9 times more common on medium compared to low pollution days, and 3.1 times more common on high compared to low pollution days.
